Week 17 Monday Night Football game will be played between the Detroit Lions (13-2) and the San Francisco 49ers (6-9). This will be the final home game for the Niners who have a 4-4 record at home this season.
The Detroit Lions are undefeated on road with a flawless 7-0 record for the 2024 season. The 49ers have lost back-to-back games while the Lions have bounced back in style after their loss to the Bills in Week 15.
Coming to week 17, the Detroit Lions were tied with the Minnesota Vikings for the overall win-loss record. But Sam Darnold’s heroics last night versus the Packers have moved them up to 14-2 while the Lions are at 13-2 before tonight’s game against the Niners.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell knows the significance of this game. The Lions HC is in no mood to rest his starters and hence, Detroit will come to this game with all their might. Despite losing David Montgomery, the Lions’ RB Jahmyr Gibbs and TE Sam LaPorta have stepped up to the responsibility which was visible in the game vs. the Bears. Jared Goff has thrown 4,095 yards for 33 passing touchdowns through week 16 while Gibbs has 12 touchdowns this season.
Brock Purdy and co. are already out of playoff contention but they would still like to close the season with a couple of wins. 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan might be on the hot seat if they lose the remaining 2 games for the season as they will finish 6-11. Their season already got derailed when they lost their star starters, RB Christian McCaffrey and wideout Brandon Aiyuk.
Expect the Detroit Lions to dominate this game and fight for the NFC top seed in the last game of the season vs. the Vikings!

The San Francisco 49ers lead the overall head to head record against the Detroit Lions by 40-28-1.
In the last 5 regular season games, the 49ers have a 4-1 advantage over Dan Campbell and co. The last game between the two sides was the NFC Championship game last season where the 49ers beat the Lions 34-31.
