Inside the team guiding Iga Swiatek as she chases her first Wimbledon crown and sixth career Grand Slam title.
Former world No. 1 Iga Swiatek will battle Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon final today, aiming for her first title at SW19 and sixth Grand Slam overall. With 22 career singles titles and a historic 37-match win streak in 2022 that launched her to the top of the rankings, the Polish star has become a fan favorite owing to her dynamic all-court game and crowd-pleasing flair.
Known for her versatile all-court game and fan-favorite flair, Swiatek enters this final with a key change in her corner, as longtime coach Tomasz Wiktorowski was replaced by Wim Fissette in October 2024, bringing a fresh perspective. So, who exactly is guiding Swiatek behind the scenes? Let’s get to know the minds shaping her 2025 Wimbledon run.

Iga Swiatek’s coach is Wim Fissette. He came on board in October 2024, a significant move that signaled her intent to evolve. The seasoned Belgian, renowned for guiding Naomi Osaka to two of her four Grand Slam titles, has also worked with legends like Kim Clijsters, Angelique Kerber, and Simona Halep. His most recent split with Osaka in September coincided with Swiatek’s decision to part ways with her longtime coach Tomasz Wiktorowski just a month later.
The change, Swiatek explained, was about taking the next step in her career. She felt she needed a fresh perspective and sought someone with experience at the sport’s highest levels. “He seems to have a great attitude, vision, and huge experience at the very top level of tennis,” she told the BBC.

With few Grand Slam-proven coaches available, Fissette became the clear choice. Though she had won four of her five majors under Wiktorowski, the Pole admitted her recent hard-court form had left her wanting more.
Fissette’s resume speaks volumes. From helping Johanna Konta reach the Wimbledon semifinals in 2017 to shaping champions like Victoria Azarenka and Kerber, his track record is steeped in elite credentials. The 45-year-old is known for his calm demeanor and emphasis on “the magic of positive reinforcement.“

Swiatek’s coaching staff includes sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz and fitness trainer/physiologist Maciej Ryszczuk, who accompany Wim Fissette.
Daria Abramowicz has been Swiatek’s longtime psychologist, but following a coaching shake-up in October 2024 and a title drought since, questions have emerged around her support team. Addressing the speculation in an interview with SportoweFakty, Swiatek offered a firm response.
“No. People don’t know it, but practically every year there are different challenges,” she said, referencing anxiety in 2023, Olympic pressure in 2024, and a recent suspension that left her unable to step on court.

She emphasized that mental strategies must adapt: “They don’t stay with me forever, and it doesn’t mean they solve everything.” Calling Abramowicz “a constant support” and “a person I trust,” Swiatek added, “This is my team. My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
