Who Is Coaching Amanda Anisimova for the Wimbledon 2025 Final? A Look at Amanda Anisimova’s Coach and Team Behind the American’s Stunning Run

Rudra Dubey

Meet the coach and support staff powering Amanda Anisimova’s resurgence this season.

American tennis star Amanda Anisimova turned pro in 2016 and has since claimed three career singles titles, including her breakthrough WTA 1000 win in Doha earlier this year. Once ranked No. 2 as a junior after winning the 2017 US Open Girls’ title, she announced her arrival on the big stage by defeating two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova at just 16 years old in 2018.

But Anisimova lost her father and longtime coach, Konstantin, in 2019 and took a mental health break in mid-2023 due to burnout, resuming in 2024. Now ranked a career-high world No. 12, she’s living up to the potential many saw years ago, reaching her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, where she faces five-time major champion Iga Swiatek. So, who’s been behind her remarkable resurgence this season? Let’s meet the coach and team guiding her return to the top.

Who Is Amanda Anisimova’s Coach?

Amanda Anisimova is coached by 39-year-old Dutch coach Hendrik “Rick” Vleeshouwers, who joined her team in early 2024. Formerly a coach at the Kim Clijsters Academy, Vleeshouwers has worked with top players like Elise Mertens and Yanina Wickmayer. Since partnering with Anisimova, he’s played a pivotal role in her rise back up the rankings, helping her reach the Queen’s Club final and claim the biggest title of her career at the Qatar Open.

Vleeshouwers stated to Nick McCarvel and Jill Craybas on Access All England, “The most important thing in a Grand Slam is to get through the next match,” says Vleeshouwers. “You just have to beat your opponent on a particular day. You don’t need to beat the whole draw, you just need to beat the next player.” With a spot in the Wimbledon final and a potential rise to world No. 5, Anisimova seems to be doing just that.

Amanda Anisimova Coaching Staff

Along with Rick Vleeshouwers, Amanda Anisimova’s coaching staff also includes Rob Brandsma, her strength and conditioning coach, and physiotherapist Shadi Soleymani.

Rob Brandsma

Rob Brandsma is currently in his second stint as Anisimova’s strength and conditioning coach. During their first run together in late 2021 and early 2022, she won her second WTA title at the Melbourne Summer Set and reached the second week at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros.

Brandsma previously worked with Elise Mertens and also had a successful stretch with Zheng Qinwen, which included her 2023 Asian Games gold and a run to the 2024 Australian Open final. He rejoined Anisimova last spring.

Shadi Soleymani

Shadi Soleymani, Anisimova’s physiotherapist, joined her team in April and has earned praise amid the American’s impressive rise this season.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
