The NFL’s offseason is a long wait of more than six months for fans of the sport. There are plenty of activities going on during this big stretch of time such as the NFL Combine, Draft, free agency, trades, franchise tags, and more. However, all these events are spaced out and the waiting period only helps to build the level of excitement.

The NFL’s annual schedule release is one of the most awaited moments of the offseason. Once teams are allocated their schedules, the wheels are put into motion for planning and logistical purposes. Franchises can now start preparing their travel plans for away games as well as any international games on their schedule. At the same time, fanbases can also arrange their plans according to their team’s upcoming games.

The NFL schedule not only paints a clear picture of the dates and times of games but also provides an insight into which teams will be playing prime-time games over each weekend. When Is The 2025 NFL Schedule Release Expected?

As has been the trend these past years, the NFL tends to release the schedule for the upcoming season in the month of May. Typically, the schedule comes out in the second week of May with 12th May being the most frequent date. However, the 2024 season’s schedule was released on 15th May, while in 2020 it was released on 7th May.

As you can see the exact date of the release is not certain but as per the previous iterations, we can surely expect the 2025 NFL schedule to be released no later than mid-May. This gives teams nearly two and a half months to plan their travel logistics as the preseason games tend to get underway during the first weekend of August.

2025 NFL Schedule Brings More International Games

The NFL’s global presence is reaching new heights each passing year and with it comes more and more international games. International games have now become an important part of the league and are on the rise having tapped into the global markets.

Starting with London in 2007, the NFL’s international series has come a long way with multiple additions along the way. The NFL’s second international country to get a game was Mexico in 2016 followed by Germany in 2022. In 2024, the newest venue to be added was Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The NFL this year has a total of 7 international games and 2 new venues. London will see the most action with three games this year, followed by one game in Germany, and one in Brazil. Moreover, there will be one game each in Madrid, Spain, and Dublin, Ireland which are the two new cities for 2025.

Thus, the NFL schedule brings with it a lot of intrigue. The NFL will release an entire regular season schedule on a week-by-week basis with the exact date and time followed by the date and time for the postseason. Each franchise will also release its own schedule marking their home and away games for fans to keep up to date with their team.
