A new champion will be crowned in the CONCACAF Nations League as Mexico and Panama face off in the final at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. Both teams enter the match seeking their first title in the competition, with Mexico aiming to reclaim regional dominance and Panama chasing history.
El Tri delivered a clinical performance in their 2-0 semi-final win over Canada, conceding just one shot on target. Javier Aguirre’s squad will play in their third Nations League final but have yet to win, losing both previous appearances to the USA. However, Mexico are unbeaten in their last five home matches without conceding a goal.

The final will feature Mexico vs Panama, a rematch of the 2023 Gold Cup final. Mexico won that match by a 1-0 margin. Panama, however, will be determined to rewrite history after three previous Gold Cup final losses, including a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to the USA in 2005. Thomas Christiansen’s squad has been in strong form.
They are now unbeaten in their last three Nations League matches. A win on Sunday would make them the first Central American side to win a continental title since Costa Rica in 1989. However, they have struggled against Mexico, failing to win any of their last 15 meetings. They’ve also failed to score in 11 of them. Their last win over El Tri came in the 2013 Gold Cup semi-finals, a 2-1 win in America.
