Nine games will be played this Sunday.

The NBA is heating up this Sunday with nine games on the schedule. Among the marquee matchups, the New York Knicks vs Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks vs Denver Nuggets stand out as must-watch games.

The Denver Nuggets are on the road to face the Dallas Mavericks in back-to-back games, starting today (January 12) and continuing on Tuesday (January 14).

After splitting the first two games in Denver, the Nuggets (22-15) now have a golden chance to capitalize on the absences of the Mavericks’ superstars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The Mavs (22-16) are coming off two solid wins over the Lakers and Trail Blazers, while Denver is also on a two-game win streak.

Despite the Mavericks’ recent form, the absence of Doncic and Irving makes the Nuggets slight favorites for this contest. However, Dallas has shown they can still be dangerous without their stars. Their impressive win over the Lakers is proof that they are more than capable of pulling off upsets when needed.

However, their biggest concern would be their defense which has lacked big time this season. The Mavericks are on the bottom half of the table with the defensive rating of 112.4. They will be up against a side which is ranking 12th in the offensive ratings.

Nikola Jokic, who carried the Nuggets’ offense early in the season, has now found strong support in Russell Westbrook, who has been thriving in recent games.

Another highly-anticipated matchup on Sunday would be between Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks.

The Bucks are at 20-16 this season while Knicks are at 25-14. This will be their second meeting, with the Knicks having won the first matchup on the road in Milwaukee. However, the Bucks have since found their rhythm, winning six of their last ten games. Giannis Antetokounmpo will be key for Milwaukee, while the Knicks will look to Karl-Anthony Towns to lead the charge.
