Extended Range Adds New Possibilities
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game introduced the 4-Point Shot for the very first time in league history. This kind of long-range scoring opportunity has never existed in professional basketball before. The maximum a player before could get was a three point shot while shooting beyond the arc.
AT&T, the presenting sponsor of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, partnered with the league to implement the 4-Point Shot. And the effect of it was already visible through the weekend game which saw high scores from both Team Clark and Team Collier.
Four circles are placed on the court, two on each side marking the official 4-Point zones. These are just behind the three point arc and are called AT&T 4-Point area. Each zone is 28 feet from the rim. If a player shoots from within the circle and scores, their team earns four points.
These four points are awarded to the individual player as well as the team. Each 4-point shot triggered a donation from AT&T to charities chosen by players and supported by the WNBA. This added purpose to the new invention.

Paige Bueckers made history by sinking the first-ever 4-point shot in WNBA All-Star Game history. She did so inside just 28 seconds into the game. Napheesa Collier was the most efficient when it came to hitting the new offensive weapon. She went 4-of-5 from the 4 point zone.
