The Colts could be in play to snag a top tight end in this draft!
The Indianapolis Colts have been out of playoff contention for the past 4 seasons. They have been a more or less .500 team except for the 2022 season when they won only 4 games. Following the disaster of the 2022 campaign, Indy, which held the number 4 position in the draft, selected Anthony Richardson as their new franchise quarterback.
The former Florida Gators quarterback has found it difficult to take the next step as injuries and the overall style of play have hampered his growth. As a matter of fact, the Colts have now brought in former Giants signal caller, Daniel Jones to add competition to the mix. While the two will fight it out on the field for the starting position, the Colts need to worry about other positions as well.
Indianapolis has been struggling with its offensive line, leading to difficulty running the system. The rushing game has also suffered, while the combination of bad QB play and inability to find a rhythm on offense are the root causes holding the team from progressing.
This year the Colts have a grand total of 7 picks, with their first round selection coming at number 14 overall. That is a really good spot for Indianapolis to land a quality player at the position of their choice.
With the way the current scenario stands, the Colts will be drafting once in each of the seven rounds. Unless they are part of any trade with another team, there will be no changes to their draft order. The Colts have not received any selections as part of draft capital from other teams which means all of their picks are their own selections.

For the Colts, the biggest need is to improve their offensive line in this draft, and so maybe adding a guard and a tackle could be on the cards. If Indy cannot take care of its quarterback, then this season will be more of the same.
Furthermore, a quality tight end is also a must and with the number 14 pick in the first round, they could surely land one of the top three tight ends in the draft, such as Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren.
On defense, the glaring need is at linebacker as they need to add an able body next to Zaire Franklin. If Jihaad Campbell is available, the Colts could look at him to bolster their second level of defense.
nfl I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
