Ja Morant had an ordinary outing after returning from injury but he showed up when it mattered the most. The point guard produced a game-winning shot with 19 seconds left and the Memphis Grizzlies squeezed past the Minnesota Timberwolves 127-125 on Saturday night.

Morant tallied 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal over 30 minutes while shooting 5-for-19. The two-time All-Star missed four attempts of three-pointers. Despite an off-night in Minneapolis, Morant secured a win for the Grizzlies, who played their first game in a four-game road trip.

Timberwolves had a 103-99 lead heading into the fourth quarter and with less than one minute to go, they maintained their lead with two points. Morant hit a driving layup to tie the score at 125 points. Randle lost the ball on the next possession. With 19 seconds to go, Ja Morant hit a game-winning shot with a floater from a tight angle.

DiVincenzo had an offensive rebound and the Timberwolves called a timeout for a final chance to tie or win the game. However, Edwards missed another 3-pointer. Grizzlies had a 14-6 run in the end to secure a comeback victory.

Jaren Jackson Jr. paced the Grizzlies with 33 points and eight rebounds. He made a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 125-123 with 1:32 remaining. Desmond Bane scored 21 points and Jaylen Wells had 13.

Donte DiVincenzo finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves. Jaden McDaniels added 21 points, Naz Reid chipped in with 19 points off the bench and Julius Randle had 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Morant made only five of his 19 shots overall and this was the first time he failed to reach the 15-point mark since Dec. 19. Memphis Grizzlies are 10-9 on the road ahead of three more games in the trip and now take the third spot in the West with a 25-14 record.
