Clayton Jr. spent two years of his college career at Iona, where was named the MAAC Player of the Year as a sophomore. He scored 7.3 points per game on an average and helped the side in clinching the regular-season title as well as participation in the NIT Tournament. Clayton Jr. scored 30 points, two rebounds and four assists against Texas Tech in the Elite Eight Round of the NCAA Tournament.

He entered the NCAA transfer portal and moved to Florida, where he led the side to participation in several championships. Clayton Jr. had one of the best individual seasons in Florida basketball history in 2023-24, with an average of 17.6 points, 4.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds.

Born in Sebring, Florida, Clayton Jr. is popular for his remarkable three-point shooting. He played a key role in leading the University of Florida to its first championship game in a decade.
