Viktor Gyokeres Transfer Race Heats Up as Premier League Top-4 Side Shows Interest

With many top teams around Europe looking to strengthen their strike department, one of the big names going around has been Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish attacker has been linked to the likes of FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea in the recent past. Now, another top side has emerged to rival them.

Nottingham Forest has now reportedly expressed interest in signing the 26-year-old. In an outrageous attempt to snatch the striking machine, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are ready to go against European giants to bring Gyokeres to the City Ground. With things heating up, the summer transfer window promises to be one for the ages.

Viktor Gyokeres has surpassed the 40 goal mark in consecutive seasons for Sporting Lisbon after arriving from Coventry City.

The Swede has 28 goals and 5 assists in 25 matches in the Liga Portugal this season. Additionally, he scored 6 goals and notched an assist in 8 Champions League games for Sporting.

The main point of attraction which could aid Forest in the big swoop is European football – that too Champions League football. With the Midlands setup currently sitting in third in the PL table, owner Evangelos Marinakis has a lot at his disposal in order to acquire Gyokeres’ services. Additionally, Football Transfers has reported that Viktor is indeed “intrigued” by the Nottingham project.

Gyokeres is touted to be among the best No. 9s for years to come. He has the physicality, pace and an innate ability to hold and distribute the ball which any top side will be keen to add to their armoury. He flourished in Sporting’s 3-4-3 formation, being the focal point in attack.

Gyokeres is Attracting the Eyes of Europe’s Finest

Leading Italian media have reported that Ruben Amorim and Manchester United are pushing for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres in the summer. The potential interest comes in the aftermath of disappointing performances by Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund – who has shown no consistency whatsoever. To add to their misery, Joshua Zirkzee’s future is uncertain too.

Earlier, FC Barcelona was linked to the Swedish marksman as well.
