Luka is back!

Luka Doncic is back! The Saturday-night match-up between the Lakers and the Nuggets was nothing short of a delight for the NBA fans. Luka Doncic, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers from the Dallas Mavericks, finally announced his arrival in the Purple and Gold jersey as his side took down the Nuggets 123-100.

Doncic, who was quite underwhelming since his debut for the new side, came up with his first notable performance. The 25-year-old led scoring charts in the game as he finished with 32 points, ten rebounds and seven assists.

Seeing Luka delivering such a power-packed performance left fans emotional and excited at the same time. They took to social media to react to his gameplay.

Notably, Luka made his Lakers debut during the clash against the Jazz on February 10, where he finished with 14 points. Playing on minute restriction since then, he averaged at 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists in the last three games.

Considering Luka was coming on the back of a two-month long injury hiatus, fans were patiently waiting for the Lakers’ newly acquired superstar to come back to his original form. Needless to say, their patience paid off.

In the Saturday-night clash, fans could see the glimpse of their favorite star as he not only dropped his first 30+ point performance since December 15, but also outscored everyone, including LeBron James.

The five-time All-Star finished the first quarter with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists, and recorded four steals and four three-pointers by the end of the game.

“I’m finally being myself a little bit”- Luka Doncic after his first 30+ point performance for Lakers

After leading the side to their second straight win, Luka Doncic reflected on his performance. The Slovenian said that while he finally feels like being himself, there is still a lot of improvement.

“I’m finally being myself a little bit. I still think we got a lot of improvement. Chemistry takes time. Everyday will get better,” Luka said in the post-match interview.

Doncic also expressed his happiness in being a Laker. “Chemistry takes time. You saw today that it’s getting better, every day it’s getting better… Hard, different, but I’m happy to be playing basketball. Every day is going to get better for me. I’m happy to be here. I’m happy for the new journey.” he added.

Luka is averaging 26.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game this season. He will be in action against his former side, the Dallas Mavericks, in a highly-anticipated clash on Tuesday, February 25.
