Trent Alexander-Arnold Injury Update: Liverpool Reunion on the Card for Real Madrid Star?

Moumita Dutta

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pace of recovery from injury has given Real Madrid a timely boost. It could also see him set up an emotional reunion with Liverpool next month. The right-back has been out of action since mid-September. During their Champions League win over Marseille, he limped off just minutes into the game with a hamstring issue.

Initial assessments suggested a six-week layoff. But sources now indicate that his rehabilitation is progressing faster than expected. Reportedly, the 27-year-old is now targeting a return before Real Madrid’s highly anticipated Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield on November 4. It could be his first time facing his boyhood club since leaving them this summer.

Real Madrid Looking at Fast Recovery and Fitness Push

According to reports from Spain and England, Real Madrid’s medical team is optimistic that Alexander-Arnold could feature as early as late October. He could even feature for Madrid in the El Clasico against Barcelona. The club is taking a cautious approach.

However, Xabi Alonso is understood to be hopeful of having the defender back for a critical stretch of fixtures that includes Getafe, Juventus, and Valencia before the Liverpool trip. Alexander-Arnold has shared updates with supporters, posting an image on Instagram.

Trent Alexander-Arnold captioned the picture mentioning “Back soon,” hinting at his steady progress. His fitness return would come exactly seven weeks after the Marseille setback. It is a milestone that aligns with the upper range of his initial recovery timeline. Alexander-Arnold joined Los Blancos for £10 million in the summer.

Since then he has featured in just 10 games, registering solid performances before injury halted his momentum. His transition to Madrid was seen as a bold step. He left behind 20 years at Liverpool where he made 354 appearances and won every major domestic and European trophy.

An Emotional Anfield Return Awaiting Trent Alexander-Arnold?

Should he recover in time, Alexander-Arnold’s return to Anfield will be one of the most talked-about moments of the season. His decision to reject a new contract under Arne Slot and instead move to Madrid divided opinions among Liverpool fans.

In an interview with GQ España, he said, “It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. Liverpool is my home; it made me who I am, but Madrid felt like the right step, at the right time.” His return could be a defining factor for Real Madrid in both La Liga and Europe.
