Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Manchester City over the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho. It could potentially become a deal that could be worth around €50m (£43m). According to multiple reputed sources, early dialogue between the clubs has taken place.
However, City have made it clear that they are reluctant to part ways with the 21-year-old after just one season at the Etihad Stadium. City’s stance is that it would take significantly more than the reported £50m for them to even consider his exit.

Although multiple outlets note that Spurs’ interest remains active. ESPN reported that any move for Savinho would require him to push for the transfer. Especially with manager Pep Guardiola known for allowing players to leave if they express a strong desire to do so.
Tottenham’s interest in Savinho comes amid a reshuffle in their attack. Club captain Heung-Min Son departed for Los Angeles FC earlier this summer. Meanwhile playmaker James Maddison is facing a long spell on the sidelines due to injury. Spurs have been exploring options for a new No. 10.

However, Savinho’s ability to play both centrally and on the wings makes him a versatile target. The north London club have already invested heavily this transfer window. They’ve spent over £120m on six signings. This includes Mohammed Kudus (£55m), Kevin Danso (£20.9m), and Mathys Tel (£29.9m). They also secured Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich.
Savinho enjoyed a breakout 2023–24 campaign on loan at Girona. He scored 11 goals in La Liga and helped the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time. He joined Manchester City permanently last summer from Troyes. There, he registered three goals and 13 assists across 48 appearances in all competitions.

However, competition for attacking positions at City has intensified after the summer arrival of Rayan Cherki from Lyon. Savinho will now face additional competition from Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, and Oscar Bobb. This would potentially limit his minutes. Despite this, City have so far resisted Tottenham’s approach.
Reports suggest that the speculation of an imminent exit for Savinho is ‘premature’. For Spurs, the pursuit of Savinho is a calculated bid to add both creativity and pace to their forward line. However, prising him away from Manchester may require a significantly higher offer.
