Nikola Jokic scripts history in Denver Nuggets’ loss to Cleveland Cavaliers

Nikola Jokic scripted history in Nuggets' loss to Cavaliers.

The 2024-25 NBA season continues to be a dream season for Nikola Jokic and on Thursday he marked another historic milestone. In the Denver Nuggets’ 126-114 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the three-time MVP tallied 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists, marking his 139th career triple-double. With that performance, Jokic surpassed the legendary Magic Johnson for third place on the NBA’s all-time triple-double list.

The 29-year-old has been producing video game stats this season. Jokic is averaging 30.1 points, 13 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game. While the star center has been consistent with his performance, the same cannot be said about the Denver Nuggets, which have now dropped to 11-9 following their Thursday loss.

After a first-quarter masterclass from Cleveland, the Nuggets, led by Jamal Murray, made a fighting comeback in the second quarter to cut down the deficit to just 4 points.

However, the third quarter was where things unraveled for Denver. Cleveland unleashed a 15-6 run, followed by a 10-0 burst, stretching their lead to 18 points.

The Nuggets managed a late 13-5 run in the fourth quarter to bring the deficit to 9 points, but the Cavaliers regained control and secured a comfortable win in the end.
