The Indiana Fever are active in the trade market as the deadline approaches. They are one of the few WNBA sides still expected to make a move in this market. And with a depleted roster, the Fever will want to add a player.

The Fever entered the season with high hopes of dominating the league with Caitlin Clark leading their offensive gameplan. But the season so far hasn’t turned out remotely like aspired. The Fever sits at the sixth position of the table.

The Fever have struggled with inconsistency, as Caitlin Clark has frequently missed games this season due to recurring injury problems. Their back court requires depth and we look at the three candidates that can be brought in to strengthen the roster.

Tiffany Hayes – SG/SF

DeWanna Bonner’s abrupt exit from Indiana has left a hole that Tiffany Hayes can fill-in. Bonner joined on a one-year deal to provide veteran scoring support alongside Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell this season. Tiffany Hayes can be an ideal secondary scoring option.

She is averaging 12.7 points per game with the Golden State Valkyries. Before moving to the Bay Area, Hayes’ role was of the sixth player role. Given their guard depth, the Indiana Fever might test Golden State’s stance with a trade offer for Hayes.

Aaliyah Edwards – PF/C

Indiana Fever’s paint presence weakens significantly whenever Aliyah Boston is not on the floor. Edwards is a perfect candidate to lead secondary defense. At the Washington Mystics, Kiki Iriafen has taken minutes away from Aaliyah Edwards. The defender can find a more fitting role with the Fever.

Brittney Griner – C

Brittney Griner brings the physicality and interior toughness Indiana desperately lacks off the bench. Her tenure with the Atlanta Dream this season hasn’t been quite successful, averaging 6.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks. The Dream could part away if a sizable offer reaches their front office.
