2025 NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knows how to spoil his teammates.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the NBA Most Valuable Player 2025, and to celebrate the achievement, he decided to splurge on his teammates. The 26-year-old surprised all his teammates with flashy watches as a treat after he edged out Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks’ star Giannis Antetokounmpo to take his first Michael Jordan Trophy home.
SGA treated gifted his teammates Rolex watches reportedly worth $17K. In a video shared by Oklahoma City, SGA could be seen expressing gratitude to his fellow team members and gifting them personalized hampers, containing expensive Rolex. The hampers had player’s name written on one side it along with 68-14, Thunder’s 2024-25 regular season tally, on the other.
The video also shows the players excitedly opening their gifts and collectively flashing their watches for the camera. The Canadian star later explained the reason behind his gesture and revealed that last year Jaylen Williams had asked him what he would give to his teammates if he won the MVP 2024-25.
As per Gilgeous-Alexander, “We were just on the bus being silly like we always are, and I can’t remember who it was — actually, of course it was J-Will (Jaylin Williams). He was like, ‘Two, what are you gonna get us when you win MVP?’ And it’s a crazy question to ask, but I don’t know what brought it up — watches were in the conversation.” He added, “A lot of guys on the team like watches. Who doesn’t like watches? And then I said yes — which was silly on my part.”
Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished as the runner-up to Jokic in MVP voting last year, went on to say that as he got closer to achieving the goal, he realized that he would have to fulfill what he promised his teammates. Notably, SGA received 71 first-place votes, and a total of 913 points, which led to him becoming the second Canadian to win the award.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander thanked his wife, Haley Summers, in an emotional speech after winning his first MVP. He thanked her for the sacrifices she made and credited her for helping him become the man, player, and father that he is.
SGA, trying hard to hold back his tears, said, “One and only Haley Summers, thank you. I’m sorry I’m so dramatic. Haley Summers, thank you for everything you are for me, for our son, Aries. You were the first person to show me what love really meant, what sacrifice really meant.”
He continued, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of this journey called life with you. So, thank you for everything. I wouldn’t be the man I am. I wouldn’t be the player I am, and I wouldn’t be the father I am without you. Thank you for that.”
The three-time All-Star also thanked his teammates and hailed them as his family. In his speech, Gilgeous-Alexander said, “I can’t say enough how much you guys mean to me, not only as a basketball player, but as family. We do everything together on and off the court, we go shopping, we eat. You guys are really like my brothers, and I really mean that. Without you guys, none of this would be possible.”
Notably, SGA led the NBA in scoring this season, as he recorded an average of 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per contest.
