Anthony Edwards received another fine of 2024-25 season.
The NBA fined the Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $50,000 for “using profane language” in a post-game interview. Edwards’ comments came after Timberwolves’ Game 1 blowout 114-88 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Western Conference Finals on Tuesday, May 20. The league has fined him for his remarks as he addressed the defeat, where he dropped 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists for his side.
The league released a statement announcing, “Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 for using profane language during a media interview, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations.”

Notably, in the press conference, Edwards talked about the loss that put them 0-1 behind the Thunder in the West Finals. Reflecting onto his performance, he said, “I definitely gotta shoot more, I only took 13 f*****g shots.” Ant-Man only made five of those shot attempts and the Wolves, as a team, shot 34.9% from the field while committing 19 turnovers.

Edwards, who led Minnesota’s charts in 2024-25 regular season with 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, wasn’t charged for the first time this season for his comments following the Game 1 loss to Thunder. Ant-Man has been fined for almost eight times this season, racking up nearly $400K. The 23-year-old signed a $204 million rookie max extension with the Wolves, and is earning roughly $42 million this season alone. For him, the fine doesn’t look like a big deal.
One of his first penalties of the season came during a 130-126 victory over the Sacramento Kings. He had to pay $35,000 for making obscene gestures towards a fan. Later, Edwards recorded three fines in the month of December.
These fines included using profane language to criticize referees publicly, his unfiltered remarks following a win over the Golden State Warriors as well as a huge $100K fine for using foul language in a post-game interview.
