Jaylen Brown has had enough of what has been going in the first round of the Celtics vs. Magic series. The Boston forward snapped out after the third game loss against Orlando and blamed it on the physicality of the opposition. Brown also had advice for the officials due to how the games have been going on.
Brown while addressing the post game media conference said, “There might be a fight break out or something because it’s starting to feel like it’s not even basketball, and the refs are not controlling their environment.”
Jaylen Brown further took on the officials of the game and suggested that Magic got away with many possible foul plays. He said, “They got away with a lot. So if you get away with it, I would do it too. That definitely affected us, but we’ll be ready for Game 4.”
Asked Jaylen Brown about his attempts to match the physicality:

“I don’t have a problem with the game being physical. It just seems like when I use my physicality, it goes in the opposite direction. That’s what my frustration was.

The Orlando Magic were unable to match up the pace of the game against the Boston Celtics. Due to this, they adopted a physical approach to derail Celtics’ free flow basketball. Magic despite a heavy loss in the first game continued the strategy in the second game. The result was starting to show, and the Orlando Magic nearly pulled off an upset at the TD Garden. With progress, the home side of the third game kept their game plan intact.
The Boston Celtics, who started the game well and were leading by 10 at halftime saw the game slipping as Orlando turned up their aggressive play. While the defenders through their grit stopped Boston’s attacks, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner on the other side took the game away. The duo combined for 61 points, guiding Orlando to a 95-93 win.
Jaylen Brown had a defining reason to snap in front of the media after the third game. Though, physicality is an important tenet of NBA Playoffs culture. However, certain aggressive plays from Orlando Magic in the series have also resulted in injuries for the opposition.
Jayson Tatum suffered a wrist injury after Kentavious Caldwell-Pope’s questionable play in the first game. Kristaps Porzingis in the second game had his head full of blood after an elbow by Goga Bitadze. The Boston defender had to take multiple stitches for the bust open.
In the third game of the series, Cole Anthony’s flagrant foul early in the second quarter resulted in Jaylen Brown dislocating his index finger. A similar trend has been seen in the Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors clashes, where the Rockets have employed an aggressive style of play that even resulted in a brutal pelvis injury for Jimmy Butler.
