“The future is bright in LA”- Fans react to Luka Doncic’s impressive debut in Laker’s win over Jazz

Luka being a Laker is a real story now! The 25-year-old finally got back on the court after nearly two months, and this time in a new jersey. Doncic, who was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster deal, finally made his debut for his new side and fans couldn’t keep calm. 

The Los Angeles Lakers recorded a 132-113 win over the Utah Jazz on Monday, Feb. 11 and the game couldn’t be more special. After being sidelined since Christmas 2024, the five-time NBA All-Star, Luka Doncic, returned to the court, but now in Los Angeles. 

Before the game, the 21-time NBA All-Star LeBron James advised his new teammate to be himself, and stand apart from others. Luka, surely listened to him as he delivered an impressive performance in his first game in almost two months. 

Doncic finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes of the game. To see the 25-year-old playing his first game in the purple and yellow jersey was a special occasion for fans, who took to social media to react to his debut game performance.

One social media user wrote, “The future is bright in LA.”

Another reacted to the former Mavericks star’s performance and wrote, “Legit start Luka.” 

A fan wrote, “Lakers Unstoppable with Luka. New Era Begins.”

One Lakers fan claimed, “Championship is a lock.”

Doncic, who was in the starting lineup along with LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Jaxon Hayes, had one turnover and one three-pointer. 

Following the win, the Slovenian shared a hearty message for the Los Angeles fans and thanked them for the kind of welcome he received on Monday. 

In a video addressing the Lakers Nation, Luka said, “Hi Lakers Nation, sometimes life has bigger plans than we do. I just want to say thank you for welcoming me to LA. It’s been amazing and I can’t wait to be out there.” 

Doncic shared a philosophical message he seems to be believing in and said “Sometimes you gotta close the door or open a window.” 

Talking about the game, LeBron James led the charts with 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Austin Reaves had 22 points while Rui Hachimura had 21 points for the winners. 

On the Jazz side, both John Collins and Lauri Markkanen finished with 17 points apiece and Jordan Clarkson had 16 points. 

The Lakers and the Jazz will clash again for the rematch on Wednesday, Feb 12.
