Edmonton native Stuart Skinner, who plays as a goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers, achieved his fifth shutout in the National Hockey League on Friday. He achieved the feat during a 4-0 Oilers victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Skinner stopped a total of 27 shots for the Oilers. He stopped five shots in the opening period, 12 shots in the middle period, and 10 shots in the final period. Four Penguins each had three shots on goal to lead the team. The group included right winger Anthony Beauvillier from Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, defenseman Kris Letang from Montreal, Quebec, as well as Lars Eller and Drew O’Connor.

Skinner has accumulated two victories, three regular defeats, and one overtime loss this season. His average goal allowed is 3.06, and he has saved 89% of shots on goal. Skinner earned shutouts in four previous games for the Oilers: a 3-0 win over the San Jose Sharks on February 14, 2022; a 2-0 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on March 30, 2023; a 5-0 triumph over the Washington Capitals on November 24, 2023; and a 5-0 win over the Sharks on December 28, 2023.
