Stephen Curry Drops a Ruthless ‘Three-Word Response’ for the Rockets Rivalry Question

Stephen Curry came up with a cold three-word response when asked about his reputation among the Houston Rockets fans. The Golden State Warriors edged past the Houston Rockets 103-89 in Game 7 of the first-round NBA Playoffs 2025 series. The win marked Curry’s fifth series win over the Rockets since the beginning of his NBA career.

During the post-game presser, Curry was asked what he thinks to be his reputation among the Rockets fans as the Dubs continue their demolition. The four-time champion, without thinking twice, sent a cold-response. With a subtle smile on his face, Curry said, “I am a winner.”

Curry, playing his 16th NBA season, is making his tenth playoff appearance with the seven-time champions. Maintaining a 103-51 record in the playoffs in his career, he is in the all-time top-30 in the history of the league.

Talking about the do-or-die first-round game 7 versus the Rockets, Curry dropped 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, to help the Dubs advance to the Western Conference Semi-finals. In the regular season, he finished as the top-scorer for his side. He averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per contest. Despite being 37, there are no signs of the 11-time NBA All-Star slowing down, and he still comes off as one of the biggest threats for his opponents.

Stephen Curry Hails Rockets As ‘One Of The Toughest Defenses’ He Has Faced

The Golden State Warriors, who were making their 38th playoff appearance, were considered heavy favorites to win the first-round series. Apart from it, the Dubs have a favorable history over the Rockets, considering they had kicked them out of the playoffs four times in their last six appearances.

However, the Steve Kerr side had to battle it out in an intense seven-game series to make their way to the next round. After Game 7 win, Curry, heaped praise on his rivals’ defense and said that they are one of the toughest defenses he has ever faced.

“Every game was so different—all 12 of them. From the rotations to the score, most were low-scoring, then it became a shooting fest. This game went back to that low-scoring, physical, grind-it-out style.” He added, “That was one of the toughest defenses I’ve ever faced, in terms of physicality and how committed they were to disrupting our patterns,” the two-time MVP said.

While they started off strong, Ime Udoka’s side was quick to level the series in the second game. Golden State somehow managed to secure two consecutive wins and had a chance to defeat their opponents 4-1. However, Houston secured two straight wins, and brought action to the climax.

In the Western Conference Semi-finals, the Warriors will battle it out against Anthony Edwards-led Minnesota Timberwolves!
