The best-of-seven Playoffs 2025 Round 2 series between the Thunder and the Nuggets begin on Monday, May 5.
The Oklahoma City Thunder will host the Denver Nuggets in the opening game of their Western Conference Semifinals series in NBA Playoffs 2025. The best-of-seven series will kick off at 9:30 pm ET, on Monday, May 5, at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma. The OKC Thunder have made it to the second round on the back of a 4-0 sweep over the Memphis Grizzlies.
After finishing the regular season with a historic 68-14 tally, the Thunder bagged the top seed in the Western Conference and seamlessly made it through to the second round. They recorded a net rating of 12.7 this season, trailing only behind the Chicago Bulls from the 1995-96 season. In addition, they had the offensive rating of 119.2 and defensive rating of 106.6 this season.
Their star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been their biggest strength this season. Averaging 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, the 26-year-old topped the scoring list. Apart from being a finalist for the NBA MVP 2025, he is also a heavy favorite to bag the title.
On the other hand, the Denver Nuggets finished fourth in the standings with a win-loss tally of 50-32. The record tied them with the LA Lakers in the third spot, and the LA Clippers in the fifth spot. Ironically, both teams were knocked out of the 2025 playoffs in the first round. While the Thunder made it to the second round in just four games, the Nuggets had to go all the way. They took down their counterparts in the decisive Game 7 of a hard-fought series.
Talking of their strength, Nikola Jokic, hailed as one of the finest players, led the team to many wins single-handedly. Seeking his fourth MVP title in five seasons, the Joker was absolutely tremendous. Apart from recording the most triple-doubles in 2024-25, the Serbian had an average of 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per contest.
