Stefanos Tsitsipas resumes the defense of his Monte Carlo Masters 2025 title on Thursday, with a pivotal Round of 16 clash against Nuno Borges. The Greek starlet is a three-time champion at the Principality, and all of his titles have come in the past four years. Subsequently, Borges has found form in the recent past and is looking to regain his Top-30 spot in the ATP Rankings.

Taking part in both singles and doubles in Monte Carlo this year, Stefanos Tsitsipas tasted defeat with brother Petros in the men’s doubles Round of 16. However, he is one of the firm favourites for the singles title – particularly after the elimination of Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic from the draw. The 26-year-old captured the Dubai crown to kick off March, before having a disappointing Sunshine season.

Having dropped to No. 43 in the world, Nuno Borges’ best performance this season came in the beginning of the year at the ASB Classic (semifinal). The Portuguese sensation overcame 10th seed Holger Rune in Round-1 after the Danish prodigy had to pull out due to injury. If he can beat Tsitsipas in the Round of 16, his draw will become partially easier moving forward.
