Moumita Dutta

Key Factors and Injuries, Predicted Lineups & Preview for the Crucial Premier League Clash on April 21.

Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Nottingham Forest to North London on Easter Monday. The two teams will be facing each other with polar ambitions but familiar faces. Current Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will be going head-to-head with his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo, who now leads a resurgent Forest side.

Whereas, Spurs are focused on finishing their turbulent season on a positive note after their Europa League quarter-final triumph. Forest remain firmly in the race for a top-five Premier League finish and a historic return to Champions League football.

What do Nottingham Forest Need to Secure Top Five?

Nottingham Forest are currently fifth in the Premier League, holding a game in hand over fourth-placed Manchester City and third-placed Newcastle United. Both teams are just one and two points ahead of the Tricky Trees respectively. Meanwhile, they are level on points with sixth-placed Aston Villa.

However, Villa have already played one game more than Nottingham. With this fine margin, Forest must avoid any slip-ups in their remaining matches. Even a single defeat could allow Aston Villa to leapfrog them and deny Forest a Champions League spot for next season.

Tottenham’s midweek Europa League win came at a cost as James Maddison picked up a hip knock during the game. The injury appeared to be quite painful. However, manager Postecoglou later assured that there’s no serious damage. Thus, keeping hopes alive for Maddison’s availability.

However, captain Son Heung-min is still sidelined with a persistent foot issue. Radu Dragusin also remains out long-term with an ACL injury. As a result, young loanee Mathys Tel could again lead the line. He has scored in back-to-back league matches and aiming to extend his form.

Nottingham Forest Injury News

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has kept his cards close to his chest regarding team news. However, he acknowledged that Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi who are respectively suffering from calf and thigh issues, would be monitored closely before kickoff to determine their availability for the match.

Despite their defeat to Everton last weekend, Santo is expected to retain most of his starting lineup. He may still make one change, bringing in Anthony Elanga in place of Jota Silva in the final third. Forest’s away form has been a concern. Even so, Elanga’s return could provide a much-needed flair and energy in the final third.

Nottingham Forest probable starting lineup:

Sels; Moreno, Murillo, Milenkovic, Williams; Dominguez, Anderson; Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White, Elanga; Wood
