Dream pairing confirmed for US Open 2025.
World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will officially be forming a dream team with 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu at Flushing Meadows this year. The 22-year-old duo is set to be one out of many uncanny pairs at the mixed doubles event in New York. With only a couple of months until the 2025 US Open, Alcaraz spoke about how things unfolded before their alliance was confirmed.
This year, the US Open mixed doubles event will be played during the week prior to the main tournament. The move was made in order to pull in more high profile players and draw in larger crowds as a consequence. Despite the decision being widely criticised, it has now led to several blockbuster pairs forming for the competition.

The initial list for the mixed doubles event was released on Tuesday, with some of the biggest names of the ATP and WTA featuring. Alcaraz-Raducanu, Djokovic-Danilovic, Sinner-Navarro, Dimitrov-Sabalenka, Ruud-Swiatek, Tsitsipas-Badosa, Kyrgios-Osaka; the list goes on. Moreover, the likes of Alex de Minaur-Katie Boulter as well as Holger Rune are possibly going to be added to the draw.
The reimagined mixed doubles championship at the US Open is likely to be played across two days during the qualifying period. After the announcement, Alcaraz was asked about the dream pairing with Raducanu. “She’s going to be the boss,” said the five-time Grand Slam champion, smiling.

“Carlos, you're playing with Emma Raducanu at the US Open, mixed doubles. How did that come about? And who is going to be the boss on court?”

He continued, “Yeah, I know Emma [Raducanu] since a really long time ago, so we know each other. I have a really good relationship with her. So it’s going to be interesting.” Upon being asked if he made a request to play with the British prodigy, he revealed, “I was thinking that I couldn’t play better if it wasn’t with Emma. I just asked if she wants to play doubles with me. Yeah, I made that special request.”
A certain section of the British tennis faithful would’ve been hoping for Raducanu to step on court with countryman Jack Draper. The southpaw will also be featuring in the tournament – alongside Paris Olympics champion Zheng Qinwen. However, the 23-year-old was in agreement that the WTA’s new British No. 1 picked the right partner.
“I don’t blame her at all,” he said. “He’s obviously the best player in the world right now, along with Sinner. Great at doubles as well… She’s gone and chosen the best partner, for sure. Hopefully they do well.” The World No. 6 was also asked about his link-up with Zheng. “Qinwen I know from the tour. I’ve seen her around, obviously a great player and has a really good game.”
