‘Shedeur Will Start the Final Four Games of the Season’ – Cleveland Sports Insider Provides Massive Update on Browns’ QB Plans

Devavrat Kulkarni

Shedeur Sanders' first NFL start could come towards the end of the season

The popularity of Shedeur Sanders, a rookie fifth-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns, is still sky high despite not playing even a single snap in the NFL as of yet. Had this been another fifth-round selected player, would there have been so much inquisition within the media? Probably not.

Nevertheless, it is what it is, but news from the inside seems to suggest that Sanders may actually be better than the Browns’ current starting quarterback, Dillon Gabriel. Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot has stated that Sanders has been progressing really well in practice, and more times than not, he would come out the winner if he went head-to-head against Gabriel.

Yet, the Browns seem content to move forward with Gabriel at the helm. So what does that mean for Sanders, who still isn’t getting any first-team practice reps despite holding the backup quarterback role?

Browns Plan on Starting Shedeur Sanders for the Final Four Games

Inside information from a Cleveland-based sports host, Tony Rizzo, has revealed that the Browns are planning to hand over the reins of the offense to Sanders for the last 4 games of the season, no matter what.

Speaking on ‘The Tony Rizzo Show’, the podcast host explicitly mentioned that this piece of information was passed on to him by two sources present at the stadium.

“I was told by two different sources yesterday, at the stadium. One said, Shedeur will start the last four games of the season, no matter what. Unless the Browns win every game through the Titans week, Shedeur will play the Bears, Bills, Steelers, and Bengals. They want to see what he’s got. Another person said he could be in play earlier than that.”

After starting the season with as many as 5 quarterbacks, the Browns now have just Gabriel and Sanders on the active roster. With both rookies and with their season almost as good as over, Cleveland will now have more freedom with their plans as they look toward the future. Currently, the Browns are 2-5 through 7 weeks, and a couple more losses will all but seal their fate of a postseason berth this season.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
