Head coach Kevin Stefanski doubled down on Sanders, naming him the unquestioned QB1 for the remainder of 2025, sidelining veterans and rookies alike. “I think all along with our quarterbacks and our young players, you’re always making sure that you’re making the right decisions for our guys,” Stefanski said. “And I think he has constantly and consistently gotten better in each one of these games. And how he’s approached this game, he’s been working very hard. So, I feel good about where his development is heading. He knows there are always going to be plays where he can be better and those types of things. But he’s very intentional about getting better each and every game he’s out there.” as per NBC.

The call prioritizes Sanders over Gabriel, the fellow rookie who faltered earlier, and Deshaun Watson, the $230 million QB who’s reportedly back in limited practice after re-rupturing his Achilles in January. Though Watson’s 21-day window opened this week, he’s ruled out for the foreseeable future and is unlikely to play in 2025, per reports. In only three games as a starter, Shedeur Sanders has smashed through a couple of Cleveland Browns‘ records. He’s the first Browns QB to win first start in 26 years, first Browns rookie to win debut start in 30 years, and made franchise history being the first player with a 3 TD, 364-yard and a rushing score performance. Sanders is also the first rookie QB to throw for 300+ yards this season, and is only the second rookie QB to record 350+ yards, 3 passing TDs and a rushing score in a single game.

Next up: a Week 15 road test against the Bears, followed by Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. With nothing to lose, as the Browns are out of contention, Sanders can focus on his development and team chemistry to get ready for 2026 season.
