Sergio Perez Believes Max Verstappen is “Exceptional”!

Sergio Perez calls out Verstappen as an exceptional driver

Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen were among the successful Red Bull duos. Before Checo’s disastrous season in 2024, he was an important part of the team bringing in wins and podiums. However, he could not compete at the same level as Verstappen and was let go by Red Bull Racing. Verstappen believes that Sergio Perez is the best fit for the newcomer teams, quoting the Mexican’s speed.

In his interviews, Checo also revealed that Red Bull Racing regret letting of him. However, the Mexican driver refuses to speak against Max Verstappen. Their synergy was strong right from the get-go. However, there were also tense moments between them during some races. There were a lot of theories about how Checo and Max had a fallout and the team was favouring the Dutchman over Checo. Although, Perez reveals his thoughts about Max Verstappen and his success contrary to popular beliefs.

Sergio Perez Applauds Max Verstappen for His Talents and Success

Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen had a heated rivalry on track. Even though, community believe that the car was not tailored to Checo, the Mexican doesn’t bring up these comments in his interviews.

When talking about Max Verstappen, Perez mentions the Dutch champion’s innate talent and ability to dominate. There’s a lot of debate surrounding Verstappen’s dominance and his three titles. Some people believe that the Dutchman had the right car to achieve those unfathomable results.

Perez on the other hand puts down such rumours talking about Verstappen’s own talent to bring out the best in the car-

“The truth is, Max deserves all the success he’s having. He’s an incredible driver, and very few people understand the way he works – he’s exceptional. We had a great team. In the end, it slowly fell apart, but we really did have something special, during one of the most competitive eras in F1.”

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez seem to resonate the respect they have for each other long after Perez left the Bulls. The former teammates have not spoken any harsh about each other. Verstappen himself is proving Perez’s words right with his performance in 2025.

While his teammate is struggling to claim points in 2025, he is still fighting for the championship title. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez is looking forward to a comeback in Formula 1 next season.
