Sebastian Baez vs. Luciano Darderi Head-to-Head Record, Prediction and Betting Odds for ATP Nordea Open 2025 Quarterfinal

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Sixth career meeting between the two players.

Two quality clay court stars will enter Centre Court on Friday, when Sebastian Baez battles Luciano Darderi in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Nordea Open in Bastad. It will be a physical and mental contest between the No. 4 and No. 6 seeds, with only one spot available in the final four. The winner of this match will take on either Francisco Cerundolo or Damir Dzumhur in the semifinal stage.

Sebastian Baez was undergoing a slump before coming into Bastad. The 24-year-old Argentine had lost in the opening round of his five previous tour-level tournaments, and was completely out of form. Prior to this, Baez won the title in Rio and also reached finals in Santiago and Bucharest. On clay, he has a 13-9 record, and wins 66% service games this year. Baez also converts 41% break point opportunities.

Luciano Darderi achieved his career-best Grand Slam performance by reaching the Round of 32 at Wimbledon in July. The Italian had a strong set of results during the European clay court swing – winning the Grand Prix Hassan II and reaching quarterfinals in Munich and Hamburg. Currently ranked No. 55 in the world, Darderi is looking to re-enter the Top-50 very soon. He has a 14-8 record on clay this year.

Sebastian Baez vs Luciano Darderi Head to Head Record

Sebastian Baez has a 4-1 record in the head-to-head against Luciano Darderi. They met four times in 2024, and once in 2023.

In their first ever clash, Baez eased past Darderi at the ATP-250 in Cordoba. They met one year later at the same event, and the 23-year-old exacted revenge over his Argentinian counterpart. Since then, Baez has dominated this rivalry. Their only non-clay court meeting was at the 2024 US Open, when Baez edged out a four set thriller.

Sebastian Baez vs Luciano Darderi ATP Nordea Open 2025 Prediction

Baez looked shaky in his opening round match against Nicolai Kjær on Wednesday. Expect a lot of cross-court exchanges as both players look to ping each other on the back-foot in this feisty duel. Darderi will need to capitalise on the height disadvantage of Baez, and exert control with a high first serve percentage. The player who can manage his endurance across three sets better, will end up on the winning side.

Prediction: Sebastian Baez in three sets.
