San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks Injury Report Week 1 2025-26 NFL Season

49ers and Seahawks Battle Injuries Ahead of NFC West Opener

The 2025 NFL season opens with a heavyweight NFC West clash as the San Francisco 49ers travel north to face the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Sunday, September 7. Both teams come into the opener with injury concerns, as six players are currently listed on their respective reports, three each. With a final status update set to drop 90 minutes before kickoff, the stage is set for a fiery battle that could set the tone for both franchises.

For the 49ers, last season was nothing short of disastrous. Their 6-11 record marked the worst post-Super Bowl hangover since the 2003 Raiders, with injuries crippling their roster. Losing key starters like Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and Trent Williams early derailed any postseason hopes. Still, Brock Purdy delivered moments of promise, throwing for 3,864 yards with 20 touchdowns and showing flashes of mobility with five rushing scores. George Kittle remained a consistent weapon, topping 1,100 receiving yards, while defensive anchors Fred Warner and Nick Bosa kept the unit competitive despite constant setbacks.

Seattle, meanwhile, endured its own rollercoaster in 2024. Despite finishing with double-digit wins, the Seahawks missed the playoffs for the first time since 2009 without Pete Carroll at the helm. Their struggles at home, going 3-6, overshadowed a stellar 7-1 road record. Now with Sam Darnold steering the offense after a strong year in Minnesota and young playmakers like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Zach Charbonnet emerging, the Seahawks are banking on balance.

San Francisco 49ers Injury Report For Game Against Seattle Seahawks

Ahead of their regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers released their latest injury report. Running back Christian McCaffrey remains the biggest concern, listed as questionable with a calf injury that flared late in the week. McCaffrey did not practice Friday after limited work Thursday, leaving his status uncertain.

Alongside him, rookie running back Jordan James (finger) and wide receiver Jordan Watkins (ankle) are both doubtful after being limited in practice. While these offensive absences loom large, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (knee) will be available, giving some relief to the defensive front.

Seattle Seahawks Injury Report For Game Against San Francisco 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks enter their Week 1 clash with the 49ers missing three confirmed players. Receiver Dareke Young (hamstring), linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (knee), and receiver Jake Bobo (concussion) have all been ruled out for Sunday. While the injuries cut into both depth and production, head coach Mike Macdonald expressed optimism about Nwosu’s recovery following offseason surgery, saying he simply needs more time before returning.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
