Rookie Phenom Stephon Castle Joins Tim Duncan, Victor Wembanyama on historic Spurs List !

The Spurs star, De'Aaron Fox hailed Castle for his consistent performance in regular season.

Stephon Castle is finding success in his rookie year for the San Antonio Spurs, who are playing without their star player, Victor Wembanyama. The new role has allowed Castle to produce his best version for the Spurs. On Sunday night, the rookie guard created franchise history.

Castle racked up 32 points, eight rebounds, and three assists against the tight defense of the OKC Thunder, who beat the Spurs 146-132 on Sunday. The 20-year-old was shooting 12-for-21 from the floor in his second 30-point performance of the season.

Castle became just the fifth rookie in San Antonio history to record multiple 30-point games in a season. The 20-year-old guard joined Willie Anderson (5), Tim Duncan (8), Victor Wembanyama (11), and David Robinson (16). Three out of four players (excluding Willie Anderson) went on to win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award.

The Spurs star, De’Aaron Fox hailed Castle for his consistent performance in regular season. “Playing with (Chris Paul) for the year, and me coming in, he’s continuing to learn,” De’Aaron Fox said. “I think he’s going to be a hell of a player in this league.”

Stephon Castle also won the 2025 Rising Stars MVP award this season. The rookie player is averaging 12.8 points, three rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 41 percent shooting from the field. He is on the way to become a star like Wembanyama. Mitch Johnson is showing faith in him and giving him regular opportunities to shine.
