LeBron James creates NBA history with Lakers’ win against Clippers

LeBron James joined legends Tim Duncan, Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the elite club of 1000 wins.

The Los Angeles Lakers completed a sweep against the LA Clippers in a two-game set on Sunday with a 108-102 win. LeBron James had an ordinary day against the inter-city rivals, but the Los Angeles star still made history.

LeBron James was just 18 points shy of reaching 50,000 career points – regular season and playoffs combined. He finished the contest with 17 points, five rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one block on 6-of-17 shooting.

The 22-year NBA veteran fell short of just one point to become the first NBA player ever to reach 50,000 career points. LeBron James still created history as he joined the 1000-win club. It was LeBron’s 1000th win in the NBA regular season, and he is the fourth player to achieve this glory.

LeBron James joined legends Tim Duncan, Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players to win 1000 games in the regular season. The veteran guard will get a chance to climb further up the all-time wins list.

If LeBron plays one more season, he can easily surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has the record of most regular-season wins (1074). The Lakers will play 23 more games this season, and LeBron can reach the second spot if he wins at least 15 games before playoffs. This milestone is possible considering the current form of the Purple and Gold.

LeBron James will play against the Pelicans on Tuesday, and with the first point in the game, he will reach the historic milestone of 50,000 career points. The Lakers superstar is averaging 24 points, 8 rebounds, 8.6 assists per game in the regular season on 51.8% shooting.
