Robert Lewandowski Sets Unique Club Football Record!

Abhinav Goel

With Barca celebrating a domestic treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup, Lewandowski's milestone adds another historic note.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has etched his name into football history. Hansi Flick’s Barcelona wrapped up the season on a high note with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Athletic Club on Sunday. Robert Lewandowski netted a first-half brace while substitute Dani Olmo sealed the win for Barca with a late penalty.

Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a sublime chip over Unai Simon. The goal marked the 36-year-old forward’s 100th goal for the Catalan giants. Minutes later, he bagged his 101st goal with a well-placed header at the back post, taking his tally to 27 league goals this season.

Robert Lewandowski’s Unique Record

Lewandowski fell short of the La Liga Golden Boot which was claimed by Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, who scored 31 goals this season. However, the Polish striker managed to achieve a special feat in the match. Lewandowski became only the fifth player ever to score over 100 goals for three different clubs.

Lewandowski reached this remarkable milestone on the final day of the 2024–25 La Liga season. Since joining from Bayern Munich in 2022, Lewandowski has scored 101 goals across all competitions In just 147 games for Barca.

Having previously scored 103 goals for Borussia Dortmund and a staggering 344 goals for Bayern Munich, Lewandowski now joins an elite group of footballers who have surpassed the 100-goal mark with three different clubs. Lewandowski’s unique feat cements his legacy as one of the most consistent and prolific strikers of his generation.

Before Lewandowski, the four players in football history to score 100 goals for three different clubs are:

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo: Ronaldo has scored over 100 goals for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. He is also the all-time leading goalscorer in the Champions League.
  2. Neymar: Neymar has scored over 100 goals for Santos, FC Barcelona, and PSG.
  3. Romario: Romario has scored over 100 goals for Vasco da Gama, PSV Eindhoven, and Flamengo.
  4. Isidro Langara: Langara has scored over 100 goals for Real Oviedo, San Lorenzo, and Real Club España. Notably, Langara also has the highest goal-ratio in La Liga at 1.14.

Speaking after the match, Lewandowski told Barca One,

“I am very happy, very proud to be part of this team, this club, it’s been something amazing. I try to do my best, not only with goals but my attitude on and off the pitch — and there are so many young players we have to take care of them.”

“We did something great (this season) but we know we can still do a lot (more) things.”

With Barcelona celebrating a domestic treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, Lewandowski’s latest milestone adds a historic note to a glittering season.
