LeBron James' ability to remain in top physical condition gives him a shot at some of the league’s most impressive milestones.
LeBron James turned 40 on December 30, and shows no signs of slowing down. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has already set countless records in his career, but there are still a few major ones he could break in 2025. As the oldest active player in the NBA, LeBron continues to play at an elite level, and his ability to remain in top physical condition gives him a shot at some of the league’s most impressive milestones.
Here are the top records LeBron could break in the coming year.
LeBron is just two 30-point games away from breaking Michael Jordan’s record of 562 career 30-point games. LeBron has been scoring 30 or more points consistently, and he could pass Jordan’s mark in first week after turning 40.
LeBron has already played 1520 games in the NBA, putting him in 6th place all-time for total games played. The record for the most games played is held by Robert Parish, with 1,611 games. To break this record, LeBron would need to play 91 more games, which could happen within the next two seasons. With his excellent physical condition and ability to avoid serious injuries, LeBron is in a good position to break this record in the 2025-26 season.

Win shares are a stat that measures a player’s overall contribution to his team’s success. LeBron is currently second on the all-time list with 266.06 win shares, trailing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has 273.41. LeBron has been averaging about 7.3 win shares per season over the past few years, which means he could catch Kareem by the end of the 2025 season.
LeBron has scored 15,088 field goals in his career, but he’s still 749 shots behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time record of 15,837 field goals. While this is one of the more challenging records for LeBron to break, it’s not out of the question. LeBron has averaged around 600 field goals made per season with the Lakers, so if he stays healthy and continues to score at a high level, he could break this record in the next couple of years.
One of the most impressive records LeBron could chase is the most points scored after turning 40. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the current record with 1,941 points after his 40th birthday. LeBron has already proven he can score at a high level in his 40s, so with a full season ahead of him, he has a real shot at breaking this record.
