Sabres' star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin eyes a comeback this Saturday, boosting Buffalo's lineup after recovering from his injury.
The last game Rasmus Dahlin of the Buffalo Sabers played in was a 5-2 loss against Utah Hockey Club on Saturday. He was suffering from spasms in his back, and coach Lindy Ruff said he “is still being evaluated”. The defenseman played in the third period of the Sabres’ 5-4 loss to the Avalanche on Tuesday before leaving after one shift and missing an evening contest against the Winnipeg Jets for their 3-2 overtime victory on Thursday. Dahlin (back) is on the mend and expects to play against the Capitals or Maple Leafs on coming Saturday or Sunday.

Before the injury, the 24-year-old defenseman was in a four-game pointless streak in which he scored 10 shots, four hits, and four blocks while averaging 24:25 of ice time. Once he’s cleared to return, Dahlin will rejoin the No. 1 power-play unit and should eventually practice for future games. With Jordan Greenway likely to be activated before Monday’s game against Detroit, Dahlin might have to be put on injured reserve to make room on the roster.
The injury is associated with the injury Dahlin sustained during camp when he left the practice early on the first day. He didn’t skate with the team for five days before rejoining them in practice and played in a preseason game on Sept. 27 in Munich, Germany, as part of the 2024 NHL Global Series presented by Fastenal. Dahlin ranked third on the Sabres with 19 points (six goals, 13 assists).

nhl I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
