Raiders Swap Cornerback Jakorian Bennett for Defensive Tackle Thomas Booker With Eagles – Which Team Came Out on Top?

Raiders improve depth in the trenches, Eagles shore up the secondary

Various sources around the NFL mention a player swap deal taking place between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles. Per sources, the Raiders have sent cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the reigning Super Bowl Champions and have acquired defensive tackle Thomas Booker in return.

With the addition of Bennett, the Eagles have strengthened their secondary, while the Raiders have done the same on their defensive line. But which team has gotten the better end of the stick?

Which Team Got the Better Deal?

Starting with the Raiders, Vegas needed to improve its depth in the trenches after letting go of Christian Wilkins after just one season. To provide further competition to the defensive tackle room, they have now brought in Thomas Booker.

The 25-year-old was a fifth-round selection in the 2022 NFL draft. Drafted by the Texans, Booker played only his rookie season in Houston, following which he was waived by the team.

The Eagles signed him in August 2023, but didn’t get a chance to play in his first season in Philadelphia. Last year, Booker played in 21 games en route to the Super Bowl, though he saw the field in a limited capacity.

As for Philadelphia, they have acquired a young and talented corner in Jakorian Bennett, who will provide stiff competition to Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson for the number 2 corner spot alongside CB1 Quinyon Mitchell.

Bennett was a fourth-round draftee from the 2023 draft class and was taken by the Raiders with the 104th overall pick. The Alabama native has started 11 games and played in another 13 in his two seasons in Vegas, but he showed plenty of promise.

Overall, the Eagles have managed to pull off another win with this trade. Both teams have added value to the areas they needed to improve in, but Philadelphia has managed to acquire a developing prospect with a higher ceiling at his position and all for just a rotational player swap.

Of course, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out for both teams. But, at the moment, it seems that Bennett can make a real push to earn a starting role soon within the Eagles’ secondary.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
