Rafael Espinoza vs. Edward Vazquez Predictions, Picks and Boxing Betting Odds

Analyzing the Insights, and Betting Picks for the Rafael Espinoza vs. Edward Vazquez Featherweight Title Bout

Sunday’s boxing card in Las Vegas packs quite a punch with not one but two championship bouts! While Naoya Inoue gets top billing, the co-feature deserves fans attention too! The featherweight division has always delivered exciting battles throughout boxing history. Names like Prince Naseem Hamed and Marco Antonio Barrera made this weight class legendary.

This Sunday, May 4th, Mexico’s Rafael Espinoza defends his WBO featherweight crown against Edward Vazquez from Texas. Espinoza snatched the title in dramatic fashion by dropping Robeisy Ramirez in the final round back in December 2023. He has since defended it twice, including a revenge-sealing stoppage of Ramirez in their rematch. Now he faces a new challenger in Vazquez, who is hungry for his first world title after falling short against Joe Cordina in his previous championship attempt.

Rafael Espinoza vs Edward Vazquez Betting Odds

The oddsmakers have installed Espinoza as a clear favorite. According to DraftKings, Espinoza sits at a heavy favourite at -1100. This means fans would need to risk $1100 just to win $100 on the champion. Vazquez comes in as a +650 underdog, where a $100 bet would return $650 if he pulls off the upset. These odds reflect the significant gap in perceived power and recent form between these fighters.

The betting market favors Espinoza heavily for good reason. His perfect 26-0 record with 22 knockouts gives him an impressive 84.6% knockout ratio. Compare that to Vazquez’s modest 4 KOs in 17 wins, and fans can see why the champion is expected to dominate. The size difference also plays a major factor in the odds, with Espinoza reportedly towering seven inches taller with nine more inches of reach.

Rafael Espinoza vs Edward Vazquez Predictions and Picks

The champion brings devastating power that has stopped nine of his last ten opponents. His recent wins over Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez proved he belongs at the elite level. Standing at 6’1″ with a 74-inch reach, Espinoza is freakishly tall for a featherweight and knows how to use that length.

Vazquez faces an uphill battle against these advantages. With only 4 knockouts in 17 wins, he lacks the punching power needed to keep the aggressive champion at bay. His technical skills have carried him to a respectable career, but his two losses came against his best opposition in Raymond Ford and Joe Cordina. Espinoza’s relentless pressure style seems tailor-made to overwhelm Vazquez, who has gone the distance in seven of his last eight fights.

If we were to bet on the fight, we are going with Rafael Espinoza to win via stoppage in the later rounds.
