Premier League: Arsenal vs Chelsea – Injury News, Injury Update, Predicted Lineups and More

Moumita Dutta

Key Injuries, Predicted Lineups & Match Preview for the Crucial London Derby on March 16.

The most-awaited fixture of the matchweek 29 is set to be held on Sunday as Arsenal take on Chelsea at home. With both teams occupying top-four spots in the Premier League, they will be determined to maintain their positions, so this London derby could see major changes on the top part of the table.

Arsenal, who started the season as favourites, have struggled for consistency this season. They have failed to win in their last three league matches. With an underwhelming attacking form and 15 points deficit from Liverpool in second place, the Gunners are determined to secure a top-four finish.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are not far, sitting in fourth place in the league table, six points behind Arsenal. Chelsea’s form has been as inconsistent as the Gunners. They have won four consecutive matches across all competitions recently, but their performances have lacked dominance.

Arsenal Injury News

There’s no new news of recovery from the Arsenal camp. Key players, like Takehiro Tomiyasu is out with a knee problem, Gabriel Jesus is nursing an ACL injury, while Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz are yet to recover from their hamstring issues. Added to the list of missing players, Raheem Sterling is ineligible to appear against his parent club.

Moving on to some positive news from the camp, Gabriel Martinelli may be fit enough to potentially start the match. The Brazilian winger, who had been recovering from a hamstring injury, could play a part in the game.

If Mikel Arteta plays the youngster Ethan Nwaneri, he has the chance to make history. If he scores in the game, he could become the first player under the age of 18 to have scored in a Premier League London derby.

Arsenal probable starting lineup:

Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Nwaneri, Martinelli, Trossard

Chelsea Injury News

The Blues manager Enzo Maresca is also dealing injuries. Marc Guiu, Noni Madueke, and striker Nicolas Jackson – all three players are recovering from hamstring problems. Whereas, Omari Kellyman will be out with a fitness issue and Mykhaylo Mudryk will stay unavailable for the game with a suspension.

Concerns over the availability of Malo Gusto are also looming as he missed the Blues’ last two matches with an ankle injury. It’s unknown if he has recovered. If not, then with Reece James or Wesley Fofana could be called up to fill in for the French right-back.
