Dallas Wings rookie continues her record-setting start, edging out Caitlin Clark

Paige Bueckers is having quite an introduction to her pro basketball career. She is leading the Dallas Wings’ side without much help from other players in the roster. Even during the Wings vs. Fever game, the point guard carried the team till the end.

The Friday night game brought another record and milestone for Paige. She became the quickest player in WNBA history to reach the 200-point and 50-assist benchmark. In crossing the mark, Paige also kept behind Fever’s Caitlin Clark.

Bueckers’ 27 points and 6 assists against the Indiana Fever helped her reach the milestone. She did so in just 11 games whereas Caitlin Clark took 12 games. Cynthia Cooper and Andrea Stinson also took 12 games to reach 200+ points and 50+ assists in their rookie season.

Comparisons with top WNBA stars began even before her pro debut, back when Bueckers led UConn to an NCAA title. When the 23-year-old signed with the Dallas Wings, she was seen as a direct competitor to Caitlin Clark’s phenomenal WNBA start.

Impressive Rookie Start, Shaky Team Form

Paige Bueckers has featured in 13 games so far in the WNBA but she hasn’t featured a game with single digit numbers. That’s another remarkable feat for a rookie still adjusting to the pro game.

This shows how Paige has hit the ground running at the Dallas Wings and exceeding already high expectations. While her personal stats shine, the Wings remain near the bottom, holding a .278 win percentage and sitting 11th in the standings.

Bueckers stock has also risen in the Regular Season MVP odds. Naphessa Collier leads the race with -300 odds but the Wings’ star player has also joined the list with +30000 odds. The odds keep shifting throughout the regular season.

But Paige getting into the MVP talk early into her WNBA rookie season is a testament to her talent and form.
