Official: Raphinha Signs New Deal with FC Barcelona Until June 2028

Brazilian Star Commits Long-Term Future to Barça with New Contract

FC Barcelona and Captain Raphinha had exciting news to share with the fans as he extended his contract till 2028 with the club. Guiding the Spanish side to the Spanish treble this season, Raphinha has signed a new deal ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Starting in almost every game for Barcelona, Raphinha is their highest contributor in all competitions this season. Leading the team to its 31st Copa del Rey title, the Blaugrana will be excited to confirm his stay at the club till 2028.

Chasing the Ballon d’Or: Raphinha’s Ambitions with Barcelona

Raphinha currently leads the race to Ballon d’Or after crossing the 60-goal contributions in the 2024/25 season. Having won several Player of the Match and Month awards, the Brazilian has provided nine assists in La Liga as of May 2025.

Signing the new deal with FC Barcelona, Raphinha suggested that he plans to stay at the club till the end of his career. Talking about how he’s matured since joining Barcelona, Raphinha in his interview after signing the deal said:

“I’m now Raphinha, the dad and the captain,” he said. I have more responsibility than when I arrived but well, the years go by and you mature and I think I’ve matured a lot since I got here.”

“But I think I can still mature a lot more and with the help of everyone, I hope to become a better person and a better footballer.

“I want to keep scoring a lot of goals and assists and above all keep winning many titles in this shirt. This is my personal goal.”

Joining Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022, Raphinha has scored 57 goals for the Spanish side as of May 2025. Scoring 34 goals this season, the 28-year-old has channelled his best self this season as Barcelona was keen to secure his future.

Raphinha will still see this season as incomplete following their defeat to Inter Milan in the UCL. With a decade-long wait still going on for FC Barcelona, their captain and co will go again in the next season as Raphinha extends his stay.

FC Barcelona will finish their season against Athletic Club on Sunday. Raphinha will go down as the highest-rated player in the league this season, as his contract extension has sparked celebrations among the fans towards the end of the season.
