The Miami Open 2025 culminates with Sunday’s marquee clash.
As the wisdom of experience takes on the exuberance of youth, it’s Novak Djokovic vs Jakub Mensik in the 2025 ATP Miami Masters final on Sunday. The two players came through contrasting battles in the semifinals, setting up a blockbuster clash for the showpiece event. The Hard Rock Stadium will be lit up with fireworks for this titanic battle between generations.
Novak Djokovic has self-admittedly felt his best since the Paris Olympics this week in Miami. Yet to drop a set in the Florida-based event, he has cruised past the likes of Lorenzo Musetti, Sebastian Korda and Grigor Dimitrov to reach his first Miami final since 2016. The 24-time major champion is looking to win a record 41st ATP Masters-1000 title, and his serving form will determine whether he gets there.

19-year-old Jakub Mensik has firmly asserted that he is a “better player” than the last time he faced Nole. Having already caused a monumental upset by taking out Indian Wells winner Jack Draper, Mensik ended the American hopes by overcoming Taylor Fritz in a three-set thriller of a semifinal. Sunday will be Mensik’s first final at the 1000 level.
The head to head record between Novak Djokovic and Jakub Mensik stands at 1-0 in favour of the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Their only meeting came last year.

“I didn’t wash my hands,” claimed Jakub Mensik about meeting Lionel Messi before his semifinal. Insisting that Sunday’s final will be different from their previous battle, and also that he is here to win the tournament, the Shanghai 2024 battle between Djokovic and Mensik may not be an apt indicator of what’s to come. Nonetheless, it was the Djoker who prevailed on that occasion.

While Jakub Mensik’s serve was his primary weapon against Taylor Fritz, Novak Djokovic is a level above, if not more. The Serbian’s impeccable record on returns of serve will give him the edge. Although Jakub is a fiesty competitor, there is a 100th title and 41st Masters 1000 trophy on the line for Djokovic. Expect no respite from the former World No. 1 on Sunday.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic in three sets.
Novak Djokovic Win: 1/4
Jakub Mensik Win: 10/3
