Novak Djokovic vs Dan Evans Head-to-Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for Wimbledon 2025 Round 2

Devavrat Kulkarni

Evans has won the only meeting against Djokovic

Day 4’s play on Centre Court at Wimbledon 2025 begins with seven-time winner Novak Djokovic taking on local favorite Dan Evans. This match is seen as a hugely lopsided contest, and rightly so. The Serb has plenty of history at the All England Club, while Evans is a far cry from challenging the sixth seed, but anything can happen in the game of tennis

Novak Djokovic vs Dan Evans Preview

Novak Djokovic continues to progress toward a record-extending 25th career major. While he couldn’t get it done at Roland Garros, Wimbledon probably provides him with his best chance yet.

Having skipped all the tune-up events, the Serb has entered the second round on the back of a steady performance in the first round against Alexandre Muller. Although he dropped the second set, he looked quite comfortable in the rest of the match. Djokovic fired 22 aces, 50 winners, and created a whopping 27 break point chances.

Brit veteran, Dan Evans, has a 4-4 record on tour this year. He has mainly featured in Challenger tournaments, but he has played seven matches on grass prior to his Wimbledon 2025 campaign. He lost in the second round at the Libema Open, and Queens Club, and in the quarters at the Eastbourne Open.

Evans came through in straight sets in his first-round matchup against fellow countryman Jay Clarke. His performance was decent, winning 80% of the points off his first serve and converting on 6 of 7 break point opportunities. He also had a 33-20 winners-to-unforced errors ratio.

Novak Djokovic vs Dan Evans Head-to-Head Record

Djokovic and Evans have met only once before their match today. The pair’s only meeting came at Monte Carlo in 2021, where, surprisingly, the Brit came through with a straight-sets win. Whether Evans will be able to replicate that win is a huge ask, but he will no doubt carry the confidence of having defeated the Serb before.

Novak Djokovic vs Dan Evans Wimbledon Prediction

Evans may have had plenty of practice on grass courts ahead of today’s match; however, he has not played an opponent of the caliber of Djokovic. The Brit is up against one of the greats of the game, and in order to win, his game will have to be on point. That means Evans will have to drastically improve on his 56% first serves from the last match.

Djokovic may not be at the same level that he once was, but even then, he has too much skill and ability to easily knock off his opponent. The sixth seed did lose the second set in his opening round match, but he was solid for the remaining three sets. Another performance like that and he should be through to round 3.

Match Prediction: Djokovic wins in straight sets
