“Nobody Knew How to Stop Him”: NBA Analyst Compares Caitlin Clark’s Injury Struggles to Michael Jordan’s, Slams Referees

Caitlin Clark is currently facing a tough stretch, both with injuries and form. Her shooting woes have continued while she has been dealt with another groin injury and will miss action. The Clark we are seeing right now is slightly different from the rookie year one.

While fans are debating her form, NBA analyst Colin Cowherd made a bold comparison on national television. He pointed out that there are a lot of similarities between Clark and Michael Jordan in terms of how their second year is turning out. Jordan was also regularly injured in his sophomore season in the NBA due to aggressive plays.

Colin Cowherd said, “Last night I was watching Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. So I’ve compared her to Michael Jordan, not stylistically obviously, but in merchandise sales and kind of a dynastic TV rating changer. In year one, you were like ‘wow, nobody plays like that’.”

He added, “And then in year two, Michael Jordan got hurt and then in year two for Caitlin Clark, she’s getting banged up and hurt. Why did MJ always get hurt early? Because they were tackling him. Nobody knew how to stop him. And the WNBA officiating has just changed. It was always a physical league but now it’s insane.”

League Pressure Grows After Clark Injury

Caitlin Clark’s brother also pointed out that her current injury was down to the refereeing in the league. Clark has been on the receiving end of repeated physical contact, while officials often look away, resulting in injuries not just to her, but to others too

The current WNBA season is not even in the halfway mark and multiple injuries have occurred to players, particularly due to aggressive plays. With Caitlin Clark, the story fails to end. The league now faces mounting pressure to step in and protect its players before things get worse.
