Nick Emmanwori was projected to be drafted in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, as it happened, his name was never called in the Day 1 of the draft, and in fact only one safety was drafted in the first round of the draft; Georgia’s Malaki Stark, who was drafted as the 27th overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens. The reasons why he wasn’t taken in the first round is because of his positional value. Majority of the teams in the first round had a lot of other needs, and safeties were simply not the first priority.

Emmanwori wasn’t drafted in the first round, but that doesn’t mean they he’s not talented. He is arguably a top 5 safety in this year’s draft class, and is one of the most athletic players amongst his peers. He participated in the NFL Combine earlier this year and clocked his 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, recorded a stunning 43 inch vertical jump, broad jumped for 11’ 6’’, and benched 225 pounds for 20 times. He is a freak of nature when it comes to his athleticism, and he finished his collegiate career with a total of 244 combined tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and two interceptions returned for a touchdown. He was First-Team All-SEC in 2024, and was also named the Joe Morrison MVP Defense within the same year.

Nick Emmanwori’s Draft Profile

Nick Emmanwori, as stated earlier, is just a freak of nature when it comes to his athleticism, size, and speed. He is capable of matching up with pass-catching tight ends. His leaping and length helps him smother catch tries, and he doesn’t need a lot of help as had racked up a lot more solo tackles than assisted tackles in college. Getting past him is going to be a heck of a challenge, as his speed helps him keep up and wipe out angles on wide run. However, there are some flaws in his game such as his instincts and route anticipation, which are average at best. And he also has a tendency to not play the game with urgency at times, which could be a problem.

Nick Emmanwori’s Draft Projection

Nick Emmanwori, as stated earlier, was not picked in the first round of the 2025 Draft, where most mock drafts had projected him to be. Now, according to the latest draft projections, Emmanwori could be drafted in the day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft, in the second round, as the 42nd overall pick, by the New York Jets. While adding a safety may not be a priority for the Jets, they have the opportunity to add of the the top players in the draft, and that could be too tempting for the Jets to reject.
