The NHL games on November 26, 2024, brought plenty of excitement and drama, with standout performances and unexpected setbacks. Leo Carlsson, a forward for the Anaheim Ducks, sustained an upper-body injury, causing worry among fans regarding his comeback. At the same time, Seattle kept up their strong performance, winning six out of their last eight games, supported by Ducks’ goalie Lukas Dostal’s 24 saves. Anaheim Ducks Forward Leo Carlsson Sustains Upper-Body Injury
The team announced that top center Leo Carlsson sustained an upper-body injury during Monday’s game against Seattle and was unable to continue.
Carlsson exited the game when less than five minutes were remaining in the second period after Kraken’s forward Tye Kartye delivered a hit in open ice in front of the net, causing the 19-year-old to collide with the post. Interference was the reason Kartye was called on the play.
Anaheim is currently missing forwards Robbi Fabbri, Brock McGinn, and defenseman Cam Fowler. However, they activated forward Mason McTavish from the injured reserve list.
In the 2023 draft, Carlsson was chosen as the Ducks’ second overall pick. Throughout this season, the youthful forward has scored six goals and provided five assists in a total of 19 games.
In the previous season, he scored 12 goals and earned 29 points in just 55 games despite sitting out for almost a month due to a sprained MCL.
The Ducks and Kraken will play against each other in Seattle on Wednesday for the second game of a two-game series.
Seattle Wins 6 of Last 8, Dostal Records 24 Saves for Anaheim
Andre Burakovsky and Brandon Montour netted goals, Ryker Evans tallied two assists, and Joey Daccord stopped 21 shots for the Kraken (11-10-1), who have won six out of their last eight games (6-2-0) and snapped a five-game losing streak on the road.
Trevor Zegras and Frank Vatrano each found the back of the net, Troy Terry contributed with two assists, and Lukas Dostal blocked 25 shots for the Ducks (8-9-3), who entered the game on a four-game stretch with points (3-0-1). Seattle scored two goals in the first 1:10 of the third period to gain the advantage.
Burakovsky was given recognition for scoring the goal that evened the score to 2-2, at 46 seconds, following a deflection from Jared McCann’s pass that hit him and Dostal before going into the goal.
Burakovsky scored his first goal of the season in his 22nd game. Montour followed with a slap shot from the right point to give Seattle a 3-2 lead at 1:10.
On its initial shot on goal at 7:12 of the first period, Wright put Seattle ahead 1-0 by redirecting the puck past Anaheim’s netminder, while jostling for space with defenseman Olen Zellweger. Zegras equalized the score 1-1 at 15:59 of the first period by scoring on the short side during a delayed penalty rush.
Vatrano scored to put the Ducks up 2-1 at 6:17 in the second period. Zellweger attempted a wrist shot from the right circle that was stopped, but Vatrano redirected the rebound off his skate in front of the crease and scored.
Celebrini Records First 3-Point Game as Sharks Defeat Kings
Macklin Celebrini netted two goals in the third period and also contributed an assist for his first three-point game in the NHL as the San Jose Sharks beat the Los Angeles Kings 7-2 at SAP Center on Monday. Fabian Zetterlund, Alex Wennberg, and Luke Kunin scored as well, with Yaroslav Askarov making 22 saves for his first victory with the Sharks (7-12-5).
The team scored five goals in the final period, breaking a three-game losing streak. Both Will Smith and William Eklund tallied two assists each. Askarov, who was sent to San Jose from the Nashville Predators on Aug. 23, also registered his inaugural NHL assist.

Anze Kopitar scored a goal and contributed with an assist, while Brandt Clarke also found the back of the net for the Kings (11-8-3), who have suffered defeats in four of their last six games. David Rittich stopped 14 shots.
Celebrini scored to give the Sharks a 3-2 lead at 1:03 of the third period with a shot from the left boards. Timothy Liljegren increased the score to 4-2 at 3:14 by receiving a pass from Smith and scoring with a one-timer from the top of the right circle.
Celebrini netted his second goal of the period with a power play goal at 3:43, a one-timer from the right circle, extending the lead to 5-2. Wennberg scored a power-play goal at 10:46, increasing the score to 6-2 by redirecting Jake Walman’s shot through Rittich’s legs from the point.
Kunin skated the puck along the left side and fired a wrist shot into the net at 18:39 to make it 7-2 in the end.
TNT Analyst and Former Coyotes Winger Paul Bissonnette Injured in Scottsdale Assault
Paul Bissonnette, a former Phoenix Coyotes player turned NHL on TNT analyst, was taken to the hospital following an assault at a Houston’s restaurant on McDonald Drive and Scottsdale Road, as reported by the Scottsdale Police Department to KTAR News 92.3 FM.
Police stated that Bissonnette, a former player for the Phoenix Coyotes from 2009 to 2014, attempted to assist management in calming three men involved in a confrontation with Houston’s management by persuading them to depart.
The men attacked Bissonnette both indoors and outdoors at the restaurant at approximately 7:30 p.m., as stated by the police. All three individuals were taken into custody and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. Six individuals were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Police called for emergency medical services for Bissonnette, who was then transported to the hospital for additional assessment. The Scottsdale Police Department stated that the injuries were thought to be not life-threatening.
Bissonnette, who has worked as a radio and TNT analyst for the Coyotes, is also a co-host of the Spittin Chiclets podcasts on Barstool Sports.
