NFL Reporters Ian Rapoport And Jordan Schultz At Loggerheads With One Another At An Indianapolis Starbucks

War of words between NFL reporters Ian Rapoport and Jordan Schultz!

It is the offseason for the NFL, yet there is never a dull moment. This week is all about the NFL Scouting Combine taking place at Indianapolis where all the important personalities from the league come together and interact while collegiate athletes look to increase their draft stock. At the Combine, you will find several key personnel from general managers, coaches, team owners, scouts, draftees, and of course the reporters.

With so many high-profile and relevant people around at the same time, it is no wonder that rumors and speculative information get leaked every now and then. However, one piece of news that was broken over the internet resulted in a heated exchange at a Starbucks cafe in a JW Marriott in Indianapolis.

What Was The Beef About?

As per various reports, the whole beef started between two senior NFL reporters, Ian Rapoport who works with the NFL Network, and Jordan Schultz from Fox Sports. Apparently, Schultz broke news over his X account saying that Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady hosted Rams’ quarterback Matthew Stafford at his home in Montana. Brady spent quality time with Stafford and the two also went skiing together. Per Schultz, “Brady has been actively trying to convince Stafford to join the Raiders, and discussions are ongoing.”

This piece of news was shortly refuted by Rapoport on his X account as he posted “Raiders minority owner Tom Brady and Rams QB Matthew Stafford ran into each other at a ski resort in Montana, sources say. ”

He further went on to add that “The meeting, unplanned, was not extensive on in-depth and did not include Brady hosting or recruiting Stafford, despite reports saying otherwise.”

What Took Place Between Rapoport And Schultz At Starbucks?

As per multiple sources who witnessed the verbal interaction, Schultz met Rapoport at the JW Marriott Starbucks cafe and had an altercation with Rapoport on Wednesday afternoon while the latter was talking to an agent. It has come to light per sources that Schultz accosted the NFL Network senior reporter saying:

“If you have anything to say it to me, say it to my f**king face. If this continues, we’re going to have a f**king problem.”

Rapoport then asked Schultz to step back to which the latter once again retorted: “If this happens again, we’re gonna have f**king problem,” Schultz said, or specific words to that effect. “Now I’ll step back.”

When asked about the incident later, Schultz declined the use of any expletives during the altercation. Nevertheless, the latest update regarding the news of Brady trying to recruit Stafford was put to bed when Brady’s agent Don Yee reached out to Rapoport’s colleague Tom Pelissero stating “I know that reporters sometimes make mistakes in their haste, but this story’s inaccurate.”

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
