Cleveland Browns’ GM Asserts He Wants To Keep Myles Garrett, Despite The Latter Requesting A Trade

Myles Garrett, who plays for the Cleveland Browns, is one of the most dominant defensive players we’ve ever seen in the NFL. He already has a stacked resume and has won awards after awards but the only thing missing is a Super Bowl trophy. Playing for the Browns, Garrett has won a defensive player of the year award in 2023, has been named to the Pro Bowl six times, and was a member of the All Pro team 6 times (four-1st teams and two-2nd teams).

A hard worker like Garrett deserves to be in a winning situation and that has not been the case so far while playing for the Browns. Since the 2000s, the Browns have only made the playoffs three times and out of those three, Garrett has helped them get to two playoff appearances in 2020 and 2023. Last season, in 2024, the Browns’ record was an abysmal 3-14, and they were tied with the Titans and the Giants for most losses by a team in the 2024 regular season.

Following the disappointing season, on February 3rd, 2025, Myles Garrett released a statement in which he had requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns. Recently, at the NFL Combine, Browns GM Andrew Berry said that he has no interest in trading their best defensive player away. Let us break it down further and look at exactly what Berry said.

Despite the trade request, Browns GM has no plans of trading Garrett away

At the NFL Combine on Tuesday, a reporter asked Andrew Berry (Browns GM) if there is any chance that Garrett would stay with the Browns, to which he replied “You know again for us, Myles is under contract. We love him. He’s a good player.”

Berry continued “So for us it’s really simply… We don’t envision a scenario where he’s no longer a member of the Cleveland Browns. He’s a franchise player for us so we’re gonna keep him in Cleveland.”

The reporter then asks Berry if Garrett is “Unmoveable?” and he immediately replied “Unmoveable,” doubling down on his previous statement.

Myles Garrett had signed a 5-year $125 million contract with the Cleveland Browns back on July 14th, 2020. His contract will run through the 2026 season and it has an average annual value of $25 million. So this means that Garrett is still under contract with the Browns for two more seasons.
