NFL Free Agents Still Left Ahead of 2025–26 Season and Their Potential Landing Spots!

The NFL is swiftly gearing up for the new season, which is just a little over a month away. Training camps for all teams are underway with the preseason over the horizon. Exciting times are back for football fans, but before jumping so far ahead, there is still plenty of work to be done.

That said, as teams evaluate where they stand during their drills in training camp, improving their rosters is still an option, and one way to do that is by signing an experienced free agent still on the lookout for a new team. So, without further ado, here is a look at some of the top free agents in the market at the moment.

Top Available Free Agents and Potential Landing Spots

By this time of the season, most of the free agents have already found a new home. But the league still has a plethora of players waiting in the wings. Here is a look at some of the best talent that is still available.

Keenan Allen – Wide Receiver – Chargers, Broncos, Steelers

During his time with the Chargers, Allen was a consistent receiver, making big plays for his quarterback. However, last season was a struggle, and his lone year in Chicago proved to be a step in the wrong direction for the 33-year-old.

The best potential landing spot for Allen now seems to be a return to the Chargers. His former teammate Mike Williams also returned earlier in this offseason, but his latest retirement means Los Angeles has a vacant position to fill once again.

Other options include the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Broncos have Courtland Sutton and the Steelers have DK Metcalf as their leading receivers, but adding another experienced and proven player such as Allen would make sense for both teams.

Amari Cooper – Wide Receiver – Raiders, 49ers, Broncos, Steelers

Former Bills receiver Amari Cooper finds himself in a similar situation to that of Keenan Allen. Unfortunately, things didn’t click for him after joining Buffalo midway through last season. He was, however, a reliable receiver for the Browns during his peak.

The Broncos and the Steelers make sense for Cooper as well for the same reasons. But, a return to the Raiders, where it all started, could also be a potential option as Vegas could use a veteran presence there.

Additionally, the 49ers receiver room is in a pickle with Brandon Aiyuk’s return from injury not known, Jauan Jennings wanting more money or a trade, and young players who have not proven themselves yet.

Rasul Douglas – Cornerback – Dolphins, Packers, Bengals

Former third-round pick from the 2017 NFL draft, cornerback Rasul Douglas, is another free agent who could make an impact on a new team. Douglas was a top player from 2021 to 2023 when he had 14 interceptions, including 3 pick-sixes, as well as 40 pass deflections.

Miami is a potentially good landing spot for the veteran corner after the Dolphins traded away Jalen Ramsey to the Steelers. They could certainly use more help in the secondary. Another option is a return to the Packers, which is where he had his best years.

The Bengals are also an option for Douglas, especially considering how much Cincinnati struggled on defense last season. Pairing him alongside Cam Taylor-Britt could provide a boost to the Bengals’ secondary.

Justin Simmons – Safety – Eagles, Chiefs, Bills

There is no doubt that Justin Simmons is one of the better safeties in the game. Although he may have dropped his production to a certain level last year, he still remains a quality player who can provide value to any team that signs him.

Exploring his potential landing spots, Simmons, who is 31 now and who may be looking for a Championship-caliber team, the Eagles, Chiefs, and Bills are three teams that could be good fits. All three teams could use his expertise and veteran presence, while he would get a chance to play for teams in the running for the Super Bowl.

Asante Samuel Jr. – Cornerback – Dolphins, Vikings, Packers

Asante Samuel Jr. is yet another corner who has the potential to lift any team that signs him. Last year was a down year for the 25-year-old, but that was because he missed all but 4 games due to a shoulder injury. Talent-wise, the team that signs him will be rewarded well.

As is the case with Rasul Douglas, the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers could certainly use his help in their secondary after both teams have faced top-quality departures. Add the Vikings to the mix, a team that had an excellent season last year, but one that likes to add young, talented players coming off a down year.
