A unique talent in this year’s NFL draft is the Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter, who has the rare ability to play not only as a wide receiver but also as a corner. In fact, Hunter excels at both positions and frequently played on both sides of the ball during his college career. The Florida native began his college career at Jackson State at the FCS level in 2022 before transferring to Colorado in 2023.

In 2024, Hunter played in 12 games for the Buffaloes where he caught 92 passes for 1,152 receiving yards including 14 touchdowns. On defense, Hunter had 32 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 11 pass deflections, while affecting a forced fumble as well. His play at the cornerback position improved significantly last season, which may have played a part in him opting to attend the NFL Combine as a cornerback.

Hunter is a natural football player and his instincts are one of his strengths. While he will need to improve on his technique, he is able to get by with immense talent. Playing both sides of the ball has been a huge advantage helping him with route running, and reading of the game. Hunter had an exceptional season in 2024, and it led to him winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy along with the Walter Camp Award, and the AP College Football Player of the Year.

Hunter is currently 21 years old as of March 2025. Born on May 18, 2003, the two-way player will turn 22 years old just a couple of weeks after the draft. Hunter was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, but moved to Georgia when he was in his early teens. He attended Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia, prior to starting his collegiate football career with Jackson State.

As far as his position is concerned, Travis Hunter has average physical attributes. Most wide receivers and cornerbacks range between 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 2 inches, although there are exceptions as well. Generally, cornerbacks average a weight of 190-205 pounds, while receivers are around 200-240 pounds.

Travis Hunter has a height of 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m). Although he entered the NFL Combine as a cornerback, given his skillset and height, Hunter could be a value addition as a receiver as well. As for Hunter’s weight, he is approximately 188 lb (85 kg). Hunter can be considered slightly underweight as a corner, though not by much. Since Travis Hunter didn’t take part in the on-field workouts at the NFL Combine, there is no official 40-yard dash time for him. However, he is due to take part in his Pro Day which should give us a better idea of how fast he is.
